Today we are celebrating the European Day of the NATURA 2000 network of protected areas.
Through our lens, we are travelling all the way to the Aoos river, the last free flowing river in Europe. Aoos river springs from Metsovo in Greece and discharges into the Adriatic Sea in Albania. The Aoos river basin contains 10 NATURA 2000 protected areas.
MedINA, along with six national and international organisations, are implementing the project ‘Saving Europe’s last free flowing wild river: Vjosa/Aoos’. The project aims at protecting this special riverine ecosystem!
Our partner organisations in the project are:
Save the Blue Heart of Europe, IUCN, Pindos Perivallontiki, EuroNatur, Riverwatch, EcoAlbania, Tour du Valat, The Institute for Heritage and Sustainable Human Development
