Film screening event from Management Agency of the Messolonghi Lagoon due to World Environment Day

On the occasion of the World Environment Day, the Management Agency of the Messolonghi Lagoon in collaboration with the Cinema Club of Messolonghi and the Mediterranean Institute for Nature and Anthropos (MedINA) are organising the screening of two documentaries at the Trikoupeion Cultural Center in Messolonghi, on Friday June 8th, 08:00 a.m. The two documentaries that will be screened are: the “National Park of the Messolonghi Lagoon” and “Alima”.

The National Park documentary was created by Blacklight LTD on behalf of the Management Agency of the Messolonghi Lagoon in the framework of the Operational Program for Environment and Sustainable Development from the with and Tasos Katsaris as the director. The documentary has already been screened on Greek National television with great success!

The “Alima” documentary, a co-production of Ethnofest and MedINA, directed by Loukas  Koumpouris and Nikolas Papadimitriou, is based on the ethnographic observation of the daily routine of the lagoon’s fishermen, especially its traditional “ivari” fishermen, that for centuries have fished in a similar manner. The aim of this event is to raise awareness on sustainable development and environmental protection, in an area where natural beauty is outstanding yet threatened by human activity.
