In April 2024, “The Landscape of our Future” was successfully completed and the handbook of the educational activity is available (in Greek) to the public here.
The aim of the activity was to familiarise, comprehend and creatively elaborate concepts related to the rural landscape through a role-playing game which is the focus of the educational process. Using tools from the art of theatre and creative play, children are invited to step into the roles of a science fiction scenario, to time travel in the past and future of the landscape and to take initiatives for interventions today to claim the landscapes of tomorrow.
In February 2024, a pilot implementation of the educational activity was organised with the valuable cooperation of the Captain Vassilis and Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation, in the hospitable space of the Panos and Ilias Iliopoulos Museum, with the participation of a group of 20 students from the High School of Gargaliani.
The handbook is aimed at anyone who works with groups of teenage children and wishes to implement the activity. The core of the handbook is a detailed guidance on the implementation of the discrete and sequential modules of the activity. Each module begins with a first preparatory stage that aims to equip the teacher with the knowledge necessary to competently support the activity and the children. Regarding this preparatory stage, the accompaniment is addressed to all, regardless of the subject matter.
The detailed guidance contains the actions in detailed steps, the suggested times and the materials necessary for implementation at each stage. Furthermore, the handbook’s epilogue describes in diary form the experience of MedINA’s team from the pilot implementation in Filiatra in 2024.
