It was with great pleasure that we supported the 2nd Home River Bioblitz, a world science event that took place in Vovousa on 24-26
September 2021.
MedINA celebrated this year’s World River Day by participating in the 2-day event The Home River Bioblitz, exploring the rich biodiversity found on the banks of the river Aoos in Epirus.
The 2nd Bioblitz was organized by agronomist Dimitris Papageorgiou, in collaboration with Pindos Perivallontiki and the participation of MedINA. The 2-day exploration was accompanied by the screening of the film Blue Heart, the documentary DamNation and a presentation on the danger of hydroelectric power plants that threaten the flow of the river in Greece and Albania.
The event was joined by the BET department of the University of Ioannina, botanists and ornithologists.
MedINA implements the program ‘Saving Europe’s last free-flowing river: Aoos/Vjosa’ with partners in Greece and Albania.
