The innovative environmental education programme, “Let it Flow!”, implemented by MedINA in collaboration with the Environmental Education Centre of Konitsa, was officially presented through an oral presentation at the Scientific Conference titled “Education for Global Active Citizenship”. The conference, organized by the Institute of Educational Policy with the support of the Global Education Network Europe (GENE), took place on November 1-2, 2024 at the Auditorium of Ralleio Middle & High School in Piraeus.
The objective of the conference was to provide a platform for educators, subject-matter experts, researchers, and policymakers in the field of education to present scientific papers, exchange knowledge and best practices, and promote the cultivation of skills and values essential for fostering active and responsible global citizens.
Throughout the conference, more than 140 presentations were delivered, offering valuable opportunities for the exchange of views and practices on topics related to education, social justice, and sustainable development. These presentations were categorized into the following thematic areas:

- Intercultural Education
- Anti-Racist Education
- Education for Diversity and Inclusion
- Education for Gender Equality
- Education for Global Citizenship and International Solidarity
- Education for Sustainable Development and Environmental Sustainability

The presentation titled “Let it Flow! A Role-Playing Game for Aoos River Basin management” was delivered by Ms. Theodora Lanara, MedINA’s Project Coordinator, and was included in the thematic area of Education for Sustainable Development and Environmental Sustainability.
Through the presentation, participants were given the opportunity to explore the Aoos River—one of Europe’s last free-flowing rivers, become acquainted with the European Green Belt, its vision, and its history, and gain insights into the innovative environmental education programme. Over the course of 12 months, “Let it Flow!” implemented a series of awareness-raising and capacity-building actions targeting the students and the educational community of Konitsa (Secondary Education). Within this framework, a creative and engaging role-playing game was developed, that brought school students in the shoes of local stakeholders, researching and discussing about the future of the Aoos River, utilizing dialogue and scientific data as primary tools.
“Let it Flow!” is implemented by MedINA in collaboration with the Environmental Education Centre (KPE) of Konitsa and is funded by the European Green Belt through the BESTbelt project with EuroNatur as lead partner, with the financial support of the European Union.
