Τhe Expert Meeting on the Economic Dimensions of the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was convened as part of the thematic initiatives of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The group of 26 experts, representing all geographical regions of the world, was invited to participate in the meeting to prepare guidelines on the subject (Decision 17.COM 10 and Decision 14.COM 10), exploring ways to maximise the positive impact of economic activities on the conservation of living cultural heritage and sustainable development for communities, groups and individuals, while mitigating their negative impacts.
