Back in 2004 – a landmark year for MedINA, with the establishment of “Delos Initiative” by Thymio Papayannis, in an effort to contribute to the millennium ecosystem assessment. Exploring the relationship between spiritual, cultural and natural values of sacred natural sites and safeguarding of both their sanctity and biodiversity were the main purposes of the Initiative.
During the Delos Iniative, 4 workshops were held in Spain, Greece, Finland and Malta with significant results on the conservation of Sacred Natural Sites for a more sustainable future, illustrating the relationship between spiritual traditions and nature.
