Why is biodiversity important and what are the distribution patterns of the Greek flora? How can we better manage and protect natural and seminatural ecosystems?
These are just a few of the questions that Fanikos Sakellarakis can answer. But before we introduce him, let’s look back at two of his recent moments!
Paros 2023. Fanikos, alongside MedINA’s longtime collaborator, Dr. Erwin Bergmeier, Professor of Phytodiversity at the University of Göttingen, conducting fieldwork at Kavouropotamos stream, monitoring the impact of stone stone-built weirs on the vegetation communities of ephemeral streams.
Ios 2023. A recent moment, captured during the preliminary assessment for the positioning of stone weirs on Ios island, marking the start of the Med-RESET project: Building climate resilience and supporting sustainable water management.
