November 2006, Spain. Thymio Papayannis present on the speakers’ panel during the 1st workshop of Delos Initiative, for the cultural and spiritual values of protected areas around Barcelona.
The 1st workshop took place at the monastery of Aghia Maria on the sacred mountain Montserrat, with participants from 8 countries, representatives from the Catalan government and the academic community, as well as Catholic and Buddhist monks.
The workshop aimed to identify the most suitable ways to promote positive collaborations for the conservation of natural, spiritual, and intangible values in protected areas.
Following its successful outcome, three more workshops were held: in Ouranoupoli, Halkidiki in 2007; in Inari, Finland in 2010; and finally in Malta in 2017.
