With a background in political science, Alexis has managed projects in the fields of environment, cultural heritage, and sustainable development for many years. Throughout his professional career, he has developed a collaborative and holistic approach, as well as a deep understanding of the complexity of environmental issues. Alexis joined MedINA in 2012 and became Executive Director in 2022. As the leader of a team of passionate scientists, he emphasises creativity, knowledge, and a commitment to transparency, seeking to make a significant positive impact on the community.

With an academic background in social psychology as well as geospatial technologies and environmental management, Lily has managed and implemented projects in the fields of environmental communications and education, social and environmental research and agro-ecology. Her collaboration with MedINA began in 2014 in communications and project management, she became Head of Programmes and a member of its management team in 2018 and is currently Head of Development.

Olga has been actively involved and working in civil society organisations for many years now. She has gained significant working experience in planning, financial management and monitoring of national and European projects as well as in the financial management of non-profit organisations. She started working at MedINA in March 2024 as Finance and Operations Manager.

Fanikos studied forestry and natural environment management, and his expertise lies in vegetation ecology, systematic botany, and the management of protected areas. He cooperated for four years with the Tour du Valat research institute in France, studying the ecology and management of reedbeds and wet meadows in the Prespa National Park. He joined MedINA in 2022, while completing postgraduate studies in ecology and biodiversity management.

Formally trained in sustainable agriculture and rural development, Rigas is a cross-disciplinary professional with significant experience in climate change impacts, agrobiodiversity conservation and the development of hiking trail networks. He has been working at MedINA since 2017 as a sustainable development and tourism consultant with a focus on the island of Kythera. Since 2022 he is MedINA’s Sustainable Food Systems Programme Manager.

Eva is a Communication, Public Relations & Publicity professional with many years of experience in this sector. She has successfully handled a wide variety of private and public sector accounts, while in 2021 she obtained a certification in Digital Marketing from the Athens University of Economics and Business. She has been working in MedINA since March 2023 as a Communications Manager.

With an academic background in journalism and cultural management, Myrto has professional experience in the fields of communication, documentary filmmaking and human rights. She has worked with organisations supporting and empowering vulnerable groups, such as patients, minors, refugees and migrants. She has been working with MedINA since 2024 as a Communications Officer.

George is an urban and regional planner with a Master’s in transport management and planning. He has significant experience in spatial and urban planning and strategic environmental assessment studies in Greece and abroad. He has been collaborating with MedINA since 2009 as a researcher and project manager with a focus on landscape and Sacred Natural Sites and Sustainable Food Systems. Since 2022 he is MedINA’s Fundraising Officer and Copywriter.

Evi is a graduate of the Department of Social Policy of Panteion University of Athens and has worked with organizations that work on integration of refugees in Greece. With extensive experience in organization, coordination and communication, she is working with MedINA as HR & Operations Officer.

Thymio is an architect and a specialist in geospatial technologies and geography. He has been involved in master planning studies as well as spatial and urban planning studies of various scales both in Greece and abroad. He has been collaborating with MedINA since 2012 with a focus on landscape research and GIS.

With an academic background in Humanities and a focus on Culture and Arts, Miranda has extensive experience in activities with tools from the fields of theatre and creative storytelling, in fundraising and in project management. Since 2022 she has been working with MedINA as a project manager while designing and implementing educational and intergenerational programmes and participatory activities.

Sofia is a Civil Engineer with a Master’s in Construction Management and has international experience in both design and construction. Driven by a deep appreciation for nature, she pursued a second Master’s in Ecology and Biodiversity Management. In recent years, she has managed the implementation of environmental and ecological impact studies for large-scale infrastructure projects. She joined MedINA in 2025 as a Freshwater Programme Officer.

With an academic background in International, European, and Regional Studies, as well as postgraduate studies in Environmental and Energy Law and Policy, Marianna has worked in environmental NGOs and academic research programs focusing on sustainability, biodiversity conservation policy, and energy policy. She became part of the MedINA team in 2024 as Freshwater Policy Officer.

With an academic background in Biological Sciences, Ecology & Wildlife Conservation, Irilena has worked for years on research projects focusing on the monitoring and management of wild animals. She has extensive fieldwork experience, both as a volunteer and a professional, in Europe and Latin America. With roots in Epirus, she is equally passionate about its mountains and river ecosystems. She joined MedINA in 2024 as the project manager of “Ri-Connect: Aoos River as a transboundary ecological corridor”.

Kostas holds a PhD in urban-regional planning NTUA, a Diploma in civil engineering AUTh with postgraduate studies at the NTUA. His thesis centered on extractive industries and resource geopolitics, environmental justice, spatial planning and local development. He has extensive experience in European projects (DG MARE, ENI CBC Med, INTERREG) that focus on spatial planning, infrastructure, the environment, and the circular economy. He has been collaborating with MedINA since 2024 as the project manager of the CARDIMED project.

With an academic background in geography and forest and nature conservation, Marina has expertise in ecological consultancy, climate change, and environmental data analysis. She has worked on restoration and sustainability projects in Greece, the UK, and the USA, focusing on forest ecology and carbon assessment. She joined MedINA in 2025 as a local officer in the Aoos River Basin, supporting the protection of river connectivity and the engagement of local communities.

With an academic background in Modern Greek and Medieval Philology as well as Ethnography, Rafail has extensively researched the social and economic structures of traditional societies in Greece with a focus on his birthplace, Lemnos and the island of Tinos. Since 2020 he has been working with MedINA as a local project officer in Lemnos supporting its Sustainable Food Systems programme.

Danae studied agronomy at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete. She collaborates with the Public Institute of Vocational Training of Lemnos where she has worked as an agronomy teacher. She is extremely passionate about agroecology, with a particular focus on the conservation of local seed varieties. Since 2018 she has been working with MedINA as an agronomist on Lemnos supporting its Sustainable Food Systems programme.

With studies in sustainable agriculture, rural development, and environmental sciences, Athina transformed her love for nature into science. She is a PhD candidate exploring the role of certification labels for agricultural products produced within Europe’s Protected Areas in promoting environmentally friendly practices, protecting biodiversity, and strengthening local communities. She joined MedINA in 2025 as a Project Manager for Sustainable Agri-Food Systems. Combining theory, research, and practice, she works towards building a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.

Natalia studied marine sciences and coastal zone management. She has worked with environmental and international humanitarian organisations in Greece, Europe and Asia, on mulri-sectoral programmes addressing environmental protection, crisis response and support to people in need. She has extensive experience across all stages of the project life cycle – from development and implementation to monitoring, evaluation and partnership building. She joined MedINA in 2025 as Project Manager for Sustainable Agrifood Systems.

Fenia holds a background in Sociology with postgraduate studies in Political Science and Sociology. Her experience includes administrative and translation support, alongside research on the philosophy of nature, with a focus on German philosophy. She has participated in international conferences and contributes to the planning of educational and research projects. She also enjoys organizing reading groups. Based in Athens.

Vaso is graduate of the Department of Economics and Administration at the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus with a degree in Accounting. In her professional career as an accountant, she has gained significant experience working for different types of companies and nonprofit organisations. She has been working with MedINA since 2007 and is now a member of its financial team.

Sotiris is a trained accountant with diverse experience in supporting the implementation of EU, national and private donor projects for a number of civil society organisations. He has also gained significant experience working as an accountant for private companies in the fields of imports, sales, construction and others. He has been working with MedINA since 2018 and is now a member of its financial team.
